FAQs

We answered your Top 5 questions. Please visit our FAQ page for a comprehensive list of frequently asked questions.

What is a car history check?

Arrow icon

A car history check provides all the information on a specific vehicle’s history. Depending on the thoroughness of your chosen service, you can find out information like the registration, mileage, damage reports, and whether the vehicle has ever been written off or stolen. In some cases, you can also find out about factory recalls and learn the historical market value of the car.

What is the best car history report in Australia?

Arrow icon

Carify provides a comprehensive car history check with everything you need to know about a vehicle. Our vehicle history reports are unique because they include safety recalls, automated finance updates, and a visual written-off damage report that shows you exactly where a car has endured damage. On top of that, our reports include the following:

- Write-off check
- Stolen check
- Finance check
- Price valuation analysis
- PPSR check
- REVs check
- Odometer check
- Registration details

Is a car history check the same as a PPSR check?

Arrow icon

No. A PPSR check specifically searches the Personal Property Securities Register (PPSR) to find out who has interests in the vehicle. A PPSR check can form part of a car history check, but it does not tell the entire story. As a result, car history checks are more valuable because they can tell you everything you need to know about a vehicle, including its damage history and its market valuation.

When do I need a PPSR check?

Arrow icon

You should do a car history check (including a PPSR check) whenever you find a car you want to purchase, particularly if the car is second-hand. You should do another PPSR check on the day of purchase to make sure nothing has changed with regard to the financing. Carify takes the stress out of this for you by providing free automated finance updates, running 6 checks per day for 14 days to alert you about any status changes. We will immediately inform you if something changes.

How do you check if a car has been in an accident or stolen?

Arrow icon

Car history reports can tell you if a car has ever been stolen or written off. All you need is the VIN number, and you can search a car’s history on Carify to see if there’s something you need to know. By consulting the PPSR and the written-off vehicles register (WOVR), a car history report can help you understand more about a vehicle's history before you buy it, keeping you safe during your purchase.
